Spring is in the air and what a beautiful season it is! However, seasons pertaining to weather wasn’t what we were talking about during last week’s poll asking: “What is your favorite season?”

Out of 30 total votes, music festival season took first place with 11 votes or 37 percent. Music festivals are events that take place over multiple days with any number of stages featuring performances from a variety of artists, depending on the festival. Festival season typically begins in the spring and plays out through summer. Some of the most popular festivals here in Southern California are Coachella, a festival featuring a variety of genres, Stagecoach, a country music festival and Insomniac’s Beyond Wonderland, an electric dance music festival.

Coming in second place is hunting season with 20 percent of the vote, or 6 out of 30 votes. Hunting is an activity that requires licenses and tags. The time of the year in which one is able to hunt depends on the animal planned on being hunted and in what state one plans on hunting in.

Basketball came in third with five votes, 17 percent. Basketball season begins in October or November and ends in early April. They have playoffs that continue through the end of the month.

Soccer ended up in fourth place with 13 percent or 4 votes. Major League Soccer’s season begins in March and continues through October. Playoffs are in November and the final game is in early December.

With 3 out of 30 votes, 10 percent, football came in fifth place. Football season begins in September and goes until January. Playoffs continue through January and end with the Superbowl on the second Sunday in February.

Baseball received one vote, 3 percent. Baseball season, which is starting this month, continues until September. Playoffs begin in October and end off with the World Series.

Hockey didn’t make the cut this time. It too begins in October or November and ends in early April. After their playoffs, the Stanely Cup wraps up the season.
