With 585 Associated Degrees for Transfer awarded in the 2014-15 academic year, Moorpark College students received the third-most out of all 113 California Community Colleges.
This achievement caused the college to receive the 2016 Higher Education Champion for Excellence in Transfer award due of a campaign from the College Opportunity.
“This is a significant honor and a confirmation that our ADT program is working and helping students reach their educational goals,” said College President Luis Sanchez in a press release.
According to the press release, the Campaign for College Excellence expects the state to be 1.1 million bachelor degrees short of the economic demand by 2030, and the ADT would make it easier for students to transfer to four-year colleges like the California State University.
“We are proud that Moorpark College is at the top of the rank for ensuring that students are provided the opportunity to succeed beyond the community college through transfer to one of the state’s California State Universities,” said Ventura County Community College District Board of Trustees Chairman Larry Kennedy. “Increasing the number of students who transfer is important to the growth of our state, nation and overall economy.”
