The Health Center aims to raise health awareness with its annual Health Fair on Tuesday, Oct. 3, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. along Raider Walk.
At the Health Fair, students can expect to interact with over 30 different booths, all related to their overall health and safety on and off campus. According to Allison Barton, Health Educator, in past years, the Health Fair has been a very successful for students looking for health services.
“It’s really a great resource for students,” Barton said.
Some of the different organizations present will include Alcoholics Anonymous, the counseling center on campus, and many different mental and physical health organizations from across the country.
There will also be services provided to students for little to no cost, such as massages, blood pressure tests by the Nursing Department, fitness screening, and self-defense lessons. In addition, members from the Health Center will even be giving out free flu shots to the first 20 attendees.
This year, the booths at the fair are being encouraged to be as interactive as possible; many will be hosting games for students to engage in.
Barton hopes that by visiting the Health Fair, students will be more aware of what services are available to them on campus and in the community.
“I think it’s important for students to take advantage of the resources available to them,” Barton said. “Many students don’t know about the Health Center, but they pay a health fee when they sign up for classes, so they should definitely take advantage of it!”
