Moorpark Zoo is bringing a snow-filled winter wonderland back to Ventura County, the first weekend of December, with Snow Days at the zoo.
Families attending the event will find the zoo decorated for the holiday season, in lights and sparkles. Not to mention the chance for children to play in real snow!
The event itself is being held on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 1 and 2, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with an entry fee of $8.00 for adults, $6.00 for children between the age 3-12 years old, and free for those 2 and under. Adults receive free admission for the day if they bring a string of working LED lights to the front gate.
Jansen Young, a first-year student with the Exotic Animal Training and Management Program at Moorpark College, commented on how excited she was about the event and why families should attend.
“I’m excited about all the different stations that we’re having and that’s a reason why families should come visit,” said Young. “There’s going to be a crafts station and face painting. It’s going to be a really fun event for families to come check out and see the zoo.”
Other festive activities happening include shows running throughout the day, winter-themed games, meet and greets with the animals, and a hot chocolate station. The zoo is also offering guests the chance to take a behind-the-scenes tour and interact with some of the animals for an additional $7.00 per person.
A few other fun-filled things happening that weekend include a gift station for last-minute shopping needs, seasonally festive crafts, and an area where children get to play in real snow.
“I have seen pictures of the snow in previous Snow Days and the station we have to sign up for ensures kids can safely engage in snow play,” said Young. “It’s definitely going to be real snow.”
