The Film, Television, and Media department (FTVM) and Associated Students of Moorpark College (ASMC) are producing the 3rd annual Raiders Got Talent show this April.
This competition will showcase the talents of Moorpark College students.
“Any kind of talent is welcome,” said FTVM Professor Nicole Block. “Juggling, magic, standup, acrobats, cheerleading-we want all different kinds of talent.”
Up to twelve acts will advance to the final competition held in April. The talent show will mirror reality television programs like “America’s Got Talent”.
There will also be judges and hosts to create a competitive environment. For the first time, the talent show will take place in Moorpark College’s Performing Arts Center.
FTVM students, as part of their major’s program, will participate in many ways, such as filming the performers.
“The talent show gives the film and television students the opportunity to make a television show,” said Block.
Judges will choose three acts for the top prizes. ASMC will award the top three acts with prize money amounting to $500, $250, and $100.
“People who attend will not only watch a talent show but observe a television taping,” said Block. “This is good hands-on practice for the FTVM students.”
Open auditions are occurring on Feb. 21 at 2 p.m. and are in the Communications building located in room 129.
Tickets for the Raiders Got Talent shows are available through the Performing Arts box office.
