The signature western-style city celebration is presented by the Moorpark Chamber of Commerce and the City of Moorpark on October 5 and 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the historic downtown High Street between Moorpark Avenue and Spring Road in Moorpark.
Moorpark has hosted the annual Country Days for 35 years. This year’s theme for 2019 is “Family, Friends and Fun.” This year’s event chairman, Bruce Rokos, explains the motive behind the annual occasion.
“The event was established to celebrate our beautiful new city, create civic pride and to showcase the great businesses here in Moorpark,” said Rokos. “The true purpose of Moorpark Country Days is to celebrate all things ‘Moorpark.’ [Things] that make this a great place to live, work and shop.”
The parade will begin Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and will be followed by a street fair featuring Moorpark businesses, a car show, car hop competition, food trucks, a tractor display, musical acts, karate demonstrations, arts and crafts, horsemanship demonstrations and folkloric dancing. New to Country Days this year, there will also be a free kids fun zone where there will be animal shows, an aquatic petting zoo, bounce houses and prize booths.
“Many of our local non-profits, athletic organizations and churches will be participating,” said Rokos. “As part of our car show, we will have modified cars with hydraulics having a bouncing competition to show off their talents.”
Following the parade and street fair, the 6th annual Mammoth Run will take place on Sunday at Arroyo Vista Park. Registration begins at 7 a.m. and the races will begin at 8:30 a.m.
Country Days will end with the first free Concert in the Park after the Mammoth Run from 3-5 p.m., featuring the Yachtley Crew. Guests are welcome to bring chairs and blankets. There will also be food and beverages available for purchase.
“The Moorpark Chamber of Commerce invites everyone to come out to the weekend long event,” said Rokos. “An army of volunteers make the event possible, so we all hope you bring your family and friends to enjoy the ambiance that is our treasured High Street and go for a run on Sunday, followed by the concert.”
