This spring, families had the opportunity to attend Springtime on the Farm at Underwood Family Farms in Moorpark, from March 20 to April 11. Due to COVID-19, this spring on the farm was different than the rest.
The farm was filled with multiple activities and decorated for Easter. Although with state guidelines, they were not able to have a full festival on the farm.
Suzannah Underwood, marketing manager for Underwood Family Farms, explained, “This year is quite different because we are not able to do many of the activities that we normally do during a festival. We are not able to do a festival.”
Due to state guidelines, the Easter Bunny could not be at the farm until April 1. In previous years, the event was called Springtime Easter Festival, but now is called Springtime on the Farm.
The farm still held many fun activities for guests including animal petting areas, egg dying, wagon rides and also the option to pick your own fruits and vegetables.
“All of our activities are farm related and surround springtime, which includes baby animals, picking fruits and vegetables that are in season and being outdoors in the sunshine and fresh air,” expressed Underwood.
Springtime on the Farm also included hay pyramids, tractor-drawn wagon rides, an animal center, photo opportunities with giant egg decorations, egg hunts, multiple train rides, the country store and a socially distanced photo taken with the Easter bunny that began on April 1.
Attendee Melissa Maskalenko had brought her children to Springtime on the Farm for the first time.
“We attended because the kids love animals, beautiful weather and the tractor ride,” Maskalenko expressed.
Amber Ruiz also attended Springtime on the Farm with her children for the first time.
Ruiz shared, “I love all of the different photo areas that they have for the kids and then (the kids are) super excited about the animals. All of the animals they really loved.”
The next event that Underwood Family Farms is having is the Fall Harvest on the Farm, which will take place from Sept. 25 to Oct. 31.
