To celebrate the 2022 winter season, America’s Teaching Zoo at Moorpark College plans to light up your holiday nights with a mesmerizing display of color.

From 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 23-26, Dec. 2-4, 11, 16-23 and 26-30, the zoo at Moorpark College will show off holiday-lit exhibits.

According to the event’s website, attendees will have the opportunity to do more than just roam the zoo grounds and take in the light displays.

“Take a self guided, 45 minute stroll throughout the Zoo filled with dynamic lights, immersive interactive experiences, fabulous photo ops, and seasonal magic,” the website states.

Guests will be greeted by Santa’s Workshop and a 12 foot tall holiday tree as they begin their strolls. The event’s website also states that the festive lights experience will take visitors through the zoo’s Arctic Enchanted Aviary and Illuminated Jungle, which will host a glow in the dark garden. Visitors can also observe the zoo’s famous wildcat, Ira the Lion, under his Canopy of Lights.

“We are so excited to share all the holiday magic we have planned!” America’s Teaching Zoo wrote on Facebook.

Tickets are on sale now, but are also available at the gate. Tickets for adults are $15 and $12 for children and seniors. Tickets for children 2 and under are free and zoo members will receive a $3 discount on their ticket purchase.

Value nights on Nov. 23, Dec. 4, 11, 26 and 27 drop the ticket price to $10 for adults, children and seniors. Parking is free for all nights.

Select dates will include themed nights. Dec. 3 is set to be “Let It Glow, Let It Glow, Let It Glow” in which glow items will be passed out by staff to enhance guests’ visiting experience.

The zoo has set Dec. 17 and 23 to be “Holiday Pajama Jam” themed, for which guests are encouraged to show up in night time holiday attire. The last themed night for this holiday’s season’s light festivities is “Ugly Sweater Party” on Dec. 30.

America’s Teaching Zoo is located at Moorpark College. All exhibits are outdoors and masks are not required to attend the zoo’s upcoming holiday festivities.
