LA Canyon defeats Moorpark at home
March 7, 2014
The lady Raiders fell to La Canyon with the final score of 15-7. One game before league play starts on Thursday the lady Raiders had to take on LA Canyon at home, and found themselves in trouble late.
The game was close for the first three innings. LA Canyon built up a three score lead in the first inning. The Lady Raiders scored a run in the second inning. It wasn’t until the bottom of the third when Brittany Reed hit a home run, and tied the game up making it three all in the end of the third. In the fourth and fifth inning though, LA Canyon came out and hit almost every ball pitched at them.
“In softball and baseball the offense flows differently, and sometimes the ball bounces your way,” said Assistant Coach Brittany Clifton.
The ball was bouncing LA Canyon’s way as they were hitting almost every pitch thrown at them in the fourth and fifth inning. Getting nine total runs to separate the gap between them and the Lady Raiders.
“It was hard they kept on hitting, hitting, and hitting,” said Reed. “We were doing well hitting, but it was hard to catch up with them”
The Lady Raiders had a great fifth and sixth inning closing the gap between them and LA Canyon, but the deficit was too much as LA Canyon won in the end of seven innings with a score of 15-7.
“The team wiped the grimace off there face and stepped up, it is just hard when the ball doesn’t bounce your way,” said Clifton.
The Lady Raiders will now be starting league play as they will be traveling to Cypress Hill on Thursday. The team will look to start off league right with a win on the road.
