Moorpark Reporter receives 15 awards and honorable mentions at Fall 2021 JACC awards

The Fall 2021 Journalism Association of Community College conference was held virtually this past weekend and had over 200 students and faculty from Northern and Southern California in attendance.

Raiders’ football looks to kickoff season strong against district rival

The Raiders are planning to come back big with their first game being a home game against Ventura College. The two schools have been rivals from the start due to them being sister schools in the Ventura County Community College District. This sibling rivalry game has been given a special title and even has its own award to the winner, The Citrus Cup.

Firefighters respond to corroded fire hydrant that burst Tuesday Afternoon in Calabasas

On Tuesday afternoon a fire hydrant burst at the crossroads of Mountain View Drive and Mureau Road in Calabasas. The hydrant was spewing water for about 30 minutes before Las Virgenes Municipal Water District employees could shut off the hydrant’s water valve at about 12:52 p.m.

TOPD arrests two after seizing 40 guns, 1000 rounds of ammunition and over 50 grams of narcotics

Two suspects were arrested in Thousand Oaks for possession of narcotics and illegal firearms. Detectives from the Thousand Oaks Police Department’s Directed Enforcement Unit (DEU) seized over 40 firearms and over 1,000 rounds of ammunition during the service of a search warrant at the 1900 block of Rory Lane, Simi Valley.

Oxnard church volunteer arrested for several sexual assaults in Ventura County

On Feb. 12, 2021, a 14-year-old girl reported to the Oxnard Police Department that she had been lured to a local motel under the pretenses of a cleaning job, where she was then allegedly sexually assaulted by 44-year-old Oxnard resident Isaias “Carlos” Vasquez according to a media release by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.
