The Ballet Folklórico Mestizo will be presenting its 31st annual spring dance concert at Oxnard College, April 20-21.
The concert will feature 25 students, alumni, and faculty performing traditional Mexican dances that represent six regions of Mexico. They will dance to a blend of European and indigenous music and their choreographed routines will exhibit both influences. Audience members will also get to see unique costumes stream across the stage.
Director Mati Sanchez, Chair of the Fine and Performing Arts Department, created the ballet troupe over three decades ago and has been directing their shows ever since.
The Ballet Folklórico Mestizo performers have often been called the Ambassadors of Oxnard College because they continually present culturally diverse performances.
Their next performances will be on Friday, April 20, and Saturday, April 21, at 7:30 p.m. To purchase tickets, contact Mati Sanchez at 805-986-5800, or visit the website http://www.oxnardcollege.edu/college_information/college_news_and_events/event.shtml?id=3C73DED04A0C4151882579D8000D7C9E.
