Students interested in transferring will now have the opportunity to talk to university representatives at Moorpark College during the first-ever evening transfer event.
The Career Transfer Center at Moorpark College is holding its first evening Transfer Night event on Thursday, April 18 from 5-7 p.m. at Raider Walk in front of Fountain Hall.
Moorpark College Career-Transfer Center Coordinator Judi Gould, hopes to give students who have full-time schedules a chance to take advantage of this event.
“We are very excited to present this first time ever evening transfer event for adult students that work during the day, and go to school at night,” said Gould. “Moorpark College has a lot of students with evening classes, so we are hoping to highlight these programs that are available and expand opportunities for nontraditional ways of obtaining a BA.”
The first-ever evening event comes after a tradition of hosting Transfer Day during daytime hours. This year, Transfer Day runs from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Both events feature nine representatives signed up with more pending. Some of the universities include Pepperdine, Antioch, University of Phoenix, and California State University of Northridge. The evening event allows students who may work during the day the opportunity to seek information one-on-one with university representatives.
This transfer event will give detailed information and provide options to students about universities. The universities available at this event are flexible for individual schedule needs such as nighttime, weekend, and online classes. These universities will have college reps available to answer questions throughout the event. There will be an earlier event prior from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for the daytime students.
Russell Young, 38, a radiological technology major, said this event sounds pretty convenient.
“Having someone on the spot on campus to discuss my transfer options seems very convenient,” said Young. “I get busy between work and school so having a centrally located event that I can ask the questions I want is great.”
