Haitian girls ages 12-18, who suffered the devastating 2010 earthquake, have found a way to cope with trauma by expressing themselves through photography after they were given cameras and encouraged to use them as a way of expression.
Impressed with the artwork of the young Haitian artists, Adams decided to organize a showing of the exhibit on campus. “The project gives them a chance to be heard. When you give them a camera they have a voice, they have something to show the world.”
The “Haiti Images of healing” presentation will be displayed in the art gallery, located in the administration building. Adams will speak about her trip and the photos at a reception that will be held on Friday, February 10th from 6:00pm to 8:00 p.m. in the art gallery.
