The Central Coast Alliance United for a Sustainable Economy will hold its seventh annual Women Social, Economic, Environmental Justice Conference on March 7 at OC, with an appearance from Congresswoman Lois Capps.
The SEE conference is intended to empower low-income women and immigrants to direct their voice and to shape public policy. It offers workshops to develop leadership skills and show them where to find the resources in their communities to help better themselves and others.
The keynote speaker is Angelica Salas of the Coalition for Human Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles or CHIRLA. There will also be a “people’s hearing” on immigration reform with U.S. Congresswoman Lois Capps, California Assembly member Pedro Nava, Assembly member Julia Brownley and other elected officials.
The SEE conference workshops will be presented in English and Spanish.
CAUSE is a non-profit community planning and policy research center, serving the Central Coast Region of Ventura and Santa Barbara.
