Oxnard College Campus Police are beginning the steps of installation
for their new camera system, allowing them to have a birds-eye view of
the campus.
As of Feb. 17, there are 10 cameras working and the number grows by
the hour, according to Lt. Greg Beckley.
In the end, Oxnard College will have 152 cameras
strategically aimed toward key positions on and around campus to help
prevent crimes.
“We can see the trouble before it gets here and identify it after it
leaves,” said Beckley.
The Cameras have the ability to rewind, so Campus Police can review
tapes, as well as zoom in to read license plates and tags.
“It’s very high tech,” said Beckley. “I’m very impressed.”
