On Sunday, Jan. 27, Moorpark College Athletics hosted a special event that nearly 300 people came to see.
Moorpark College Athletics Hall of Fame held a banquet to announce it’s 2008 class. Howard Davis, Moorpark Athletic Director, was very pleased with the turnout.
“The attendance is the most ever at this event,” said Davis.
“It was a great night, just a great night.”
The 2008 class consists of Fran Fredette, Collen Gainey, Frank Jackson, Gabe Kapler, Al Nordquirst, Malia Ouzts-Kroqstad, Steve Parrott, Clint Strozier and Manny Trevino.
Of the nine inductees, three came from the basketball program, two came from the football program and track program, as well as two coming from the baseball program.
Al Nordquirst, as well as being honored as former Raider coach who led the Raiders to 513 wins in 28 seasons, was also honored as former Athletic Director.
During the banquet, guests were allowed to bid on a silent auction. Shortly afterwards guest listened to the induction ceremonies, where each inductee gave telling speeches of their lives and careers.
“Each of the inductees had special stories to tell,” said Davis. “It was highly successful.”
