Valentine’s Day has been called a “Hallmark holiday,” invented by the greeting card, chocolate, and candy companies.
This year, however, there is more than ever a market for potentially awesome dates to wow him or her this lovey-dovey season. Especially at Universal Studios City Walk.
Heather Simon is the manager for iFly Hollywood, the newest and coolest indoor skydiving venue in Southern California.
“You get the same feeling as skydiving, but without the fear,” said Simon. “It’s like floating on cotton.”
iFly has built a new wind-tunnel with a different design than any other in the country. The bottom of the tunnel is at ground-level, right on the sidewalk at CityWalk, so passersby can watch without having to leave the sidewalk.
There are two fans that blow air around the glass-tube, lifting the “rider” up into the air in a skydive-like fashion. An instructor stands with the riders at all times guiding them and giving them tips on how to fly better.
“If standing up doesn’t scare you,” said Kris Snyder, iFly instructor. “Then neither should this.”
While it is a 30-foot wind tunnel, first-time fliers don’t get more than usually four or five feet off the floor.
Since love is in the air, the people at iFly have put together a Valentines flying package for about the same amount of dough as a nice romantic dinner.
Two fliers, two rounds in the wind-tunnel, one DVD of your flight, one Classroom training session, and a special gift, all for $99.95. Check out www.iflyhollywood.com for all the details.
If dancing is your passion but you’re tired of the Borderline’s traditional hoe-down, why not mosey-on-down to CityWalk and check out one of their six, hot night spots.
Clubs can be a fun, exciting choice for V-day and CityWalk offers choices for every taste range from salsa dancing at the Latin-style Rumba Room, Southern cuisine and live music at B.B. King’s Blues Club, dueling pianos at the bar at Howl at the Moon, and of course, bowling, at Jillian’s Hi Life Lanes. Saddle Ranch also offers rides on its two mechanical bulls, guaranteed to send a romantic couple head over heels, literally.
All of this is at a safe-and fun environment you know and trust. No parking down some scary alley or some shotty restaurant in a bad neighborhood. No need to worry about your car or your purse. For more information about hot valentines dates and links to other great ideas, visit us online.
