Artist and activist Ako Eyong educated students, faculty, staff and community members about the trouble in Africa through his paintings at the Oxnard College Literature, Arts and Lecture Series on Oct. 7.
Eyong creates awareness about the political corruption in his home county of Cameroon and other countries in the Congo Basin of Africa. He spreads the work with the assistance of his art that portrays a world of peace.
“His art work is amazing,” said Literature, Arts and Lecture Series coordinator, Shelly Savren. “I think people enjoyed the lecture and learned a lot about his country.”
Eyong’s work is currently displayed in the lobby of the new Student Services Center.
