Pictures of genitalia afflicted with herpes are projected onto a screen while a women with a “Got Crabs?” shirt explains the proper use of a condom.
Also, a man in a super hero outfit can be seen handing out condoms.
This was the scenario at “Let’s Talk About Sex! STI’s aka STd’s,” a presentation organized by the Moorpark College Health Center and led by Health Educator Leila Crouse.
Different venereal diseases were discussed, as well the different myths surrounding human sexuality, including the “size issue” concerning condoms and the many ways you can catch herpes.
“Can you get herpes when grandma kisses you on the mouth,” Crouse asked the student audience. “Absolutely.”
Before the presentation began wireless remotes were passed out to the student audience, and they were able to answer true and false questions concerning STD’s and contraceptives projected onto a white board.
Gerork Adjian, a 23-year-old Nursing Major, adorned the Captain Condom costume and passed out condoms to the student audience.
Accompanying this was a demonstration of the proper use of a condom, where two students were called up to place a condom on a wooden phallus called “woody.”
Another demonstration dispelled the “Condoms are too small or too tight for me!” myth, where four students, two males and two females, took the stage and proved that it is possible for a condom to be stretch over a man’s fist and forearm.
