Moorpark College is faced with one of the worst traffic congestions it has seen in up to seven years, according to Campus Police Lieutenant Steve Kegley.
Kegley says that the first week is always the worst and that students should anticipate parking and traffic to improve slowly but surely.
“In the first week students always want to park by there class in the upper lot so those fill up really quickly,” Kegley said. “This leads to people just circling around in the top creating more traffic in the area.”
Students who park in staff parking lots will be cited and to avoid this the campus police have opened overflow lots in the dirt parking area above Parking Lot A. Alternative over flow parking is also available down at the bottom in the grass near the soccer field, and for the first time in several years.
No major accidents have been reported yet Kegley said. Kegley attributes this to the visibility by the Moorpark Police Department and the California Highway Patrol.
