Oxnard College will be holding a screening of “FLESH”, a documentary profiling the human sex trafficking in the United States, on Friday March 12 at 7p.m.
Filmmakers Kristin Ross and Christina Lee Storm will question culture’s definitions of slavery, human trafficking, and prostitution present in the US through interviews of people involved with the controversial trade and on location investigations like on the streets of Los Angeles and brothels in Thailand.
With interviews of girls who have escaped, girls who are still enslaved, former and current pimps and modern day abolitionists like numerous directors of non-profit organizations, “FLESH” will cover each side of the issue claimed as the “third largest criminal industry in the world,” according to the film’s trailer.
Along with presenting trafficking in the US, the film will discuss the causes of this issue. Interviews displaying different perspectives of the industry from those in the business of prostitution and the ones looking to abolish it will show what keeps trafficking alive in the US.
