Imaginative artists keep bringing more and more inventive forms of art a to the art scene at Ventura College.
On the second floor Ocean View reading room of the Ventura College library you will find on display Max Gold’s “Fusion Art”; an exhibit of mixed media art.
The artwork on display is for sale with 20% of the proceeds going towards the Ventura College library.
Gold will also be unveiling a new piece titled “Caution” on Nov. 3. which addresses illegal immigration and represents Gold’s unique perspective.
The “Fusion Art” exhibit is comprised of various mediums and media.
Gold unites both graphic art and traditional painting with acrylic glass that creates a 3-D element. The result is an acid trip for the eyes, with a vibrant array of colors painted on his canvas, be it digital or traditional. Gold also hand paints even on prints, creating a new look that is unique.
He always knew he wanted to create something new and now that he has, he hopes that future artists will be able to build upon his techniques.
Gold has experienced many ups and downs throughout his career. At one point in 1994, he had a completely sold-out gallery.
Every painting in the show sold, but in an incident, fueled by drugs, he tore up the checks and became a homeless drifter.
In 1997 he turned his life around and worked his way back up the ladder in the art world. Today he is known as “The Father of Fusion Art” and his piece titled “Phoenix” was the center piece for the United Nations 60th U.N. Day celebration on October 28.
