Moorpark Women’s Volleyball won three games to none on Wednesday, Oct. 24, against the LA Mission Eagles in the second of five straight home games.
The team came out in the first set looking focused and energized. Brittnie Blanchard spoke about what the team does to prepare before each game.
“We warm up and go over stats from the last time we play a team,” said Blanchard.
Melissa Kepler mentioned another ritual the team does before each game.
“Every game we go in the back and we dance,” said Kepler. “I think that really helps a lot to get us all to vibe”.
The pre-game preparation may have played a role in the victory Wednesday night as the Raiders won with the final scores of 25-23, 25-20, and 25-19.
The scoring leaders were Rebecca Jones with nine kills and two aces and Amber Glabb who had eight kills, two aces, and 15 digs.
Coach Burkhart said LA Mission had a new look since their last matchup against Moorpark.
“I thought they were really improved,” said Burkhart. “They did a great job our there.”
This game was crucial for the team which is hoping to keep the edge that they have on Mission.
“This one was important because mission is right behind us in the standings so we couldn’t afford to lose this match” said Burkhart.
The Raiders will host Allan Hancock College on Friday night in their annual Dig Pink game which raises awareness for breast cancer. The event will begin at 7 p.m. in the Raider Pavilion.
