The Executive Vice President’s office at Moorpark College now has a new name above the door.
Joining us from Bakersfield, Edward Knudson began his term as Moorpark College’s EVP on May 18.
Knudson is highly enthusiastic about working at Moorpark College.
“I’m very excited about the opportunity. It’s a beautiful college and campus, and everyone has been very friendly and cooperative and helpful since I’ve been here,” Knudson said. “It’s a great opportunity, and I’m very excited about it.”
Knudson was formally the vice president of Bakersfield College from 2006 to 2009, and will be taking over the EVP position held by Brenda Shubert. Shubert finished her contract at the end of April.
Moorpark College President Pam Eddinger of Moorpark College is enthused for Knudson.
“We are so pleased that Mr. Knudson is joining our college and our district,” said Eddinger in a press release. “His depth of experience in community college leadership will help our college move forward.”
As vice president of Bakersfield College, Knudson served as the chief instructional officer of the community college that had a student body of 18,000.
Before becoming Bakersfield College’s vice president, Knudson was the Dean of Economic and Workforce Development at Bakersfield College. In this role, he worked on improving the departments of Agriculture, Computer Studies, Industrial Technology, Business, Apprenticeship and the Tech Prep Consortium. He started in 2002, and served until 2006.
Knudson’s plans for Moorpark College will be primarily to continue and maintain what Moorpark is already doing.
“(My goal) is to maintain the integrity of the instructional programs, maintain access for students, make sure that the curriculum is contemporary and that we are responding to community and student needs. As far as I know, the college is maintaining that and making sure that we stay abreast of those issues.”
While at Bakersfield College, Knudson worked on developing partnerships with many different colleges and industries to benefit the students.
Knudson said that he desires to maintain MC’s traditions.
“I am getting the know the campus environment and the people involved. I will try to assist in maintaining the great traditions of the college,” Knudson said.
