The ASVC will be hosting a fundraiser for a foreign school at California Pizza Kitchen on Thursday, Oct. 28.
Therese Kubilos, the event coordinator knows that any amount of money will help students in other countries a better any education.
“The money they make is what supports their efforts to aid in bettering the education on the Nicaraguan communities,” said Kubilos.
Anyone who eats at the CPK at Pacific View Mall and brings in the yellow flyer distributed by the ASVC will have 20 percent of their check automatically donated to La Mariposa School in Nicaragua.
100 percent of proceeds “aid the efforts to educate and support the less privileged children in Nicaragua,” as posted on the event’s flyer.
La Mariposa is a younger school that has only been open for five years in rural Nicaragua. It is an immersion Spanish school and is also an eco-hotel.
All of the teachers are native Nicaraguans and have plenty of experience in the education workforce.
The school, located in rural Nicaragua, helps to create an experience where students will learn much about the culture of the native Nicaraguans.
