When the most powerful man in the world is sworn into office on Jan. 20, 2009 and addresses his country for the first time as president, you could be there.
The Moorpark College Multicultural Club is raffling off an all-expenses paid trip to Washington D.C. and the 2009 presidential inauguration.
“This is a dynamic opportunity for students to be a part of history,” said Mike Johnson, Multicultural Club Advisor. “Whether it is the first black president or the first female vice president, it’s a great opportunity.”
The trip is a total $1500 value which includes round-trip air transportation, lodging for four nights, breakfast and dinner daily, a guided tour of Washington D.C., attendance at the student inaugural ball, and attendance at the inauguration of the next president of the United States. Raffle tickets are on sale now and cost $2 each or 6 for $10. All funds raised will help support the Moorpark College Multicultural Club.
“It is pretty exciting to have a chance like this,” said Tim Mondujano, a 21 year-old business major. “I bought a ticket as soon as I heard about the raffle. Most people never have an opportunity like this.”
Tickets can be purchased from members of the Multicultural Club. The raffle will be held on Nov. 21 and two winners will be announced.
“Everyone should buy a ticket,” said Mondujano. “More people our age should be interested in politics and current events and this is a great opportunity.”
