The fashion world goes through many trends with each passing season. One popular trend that has managed to say in style throughout these past seasons, however, is the incorporation of color into your wardrobe.
Whether you’ve noticed or not, we have been moving towards a bolder color palette. Bright eighties neon colors resurfaced earlier this year, and have transitioned into a warmer tone for fall. When dealing with color it’s important to know how to mix and match things in order to have your outfit fully coordinated.
The color scale is broken into two different categories: warm and cool. Warm colors are everything to the left of the color spectrum, such as red, pink, orange, yellow and some purples. Where as cool colors are everything to the right, like green, blue, indigo, violet brown and black.
You’re probably asking yourself whether or not you can pull off bold colors. Never fear, if done correctly anyone can pull off bright look-at-me hues.
Bold colors might come off intimidating. At the same time when you get the hang of coordinating they will become fun.
Since we are in fall its wise to put away your light colored jeans and stick with darker denims. Darker denims work better with color since your focal color point can be your top. Leaving your darker denim muted.
One of the most common mistakes I see in people’s outfits are when they go overboard with too much color. When you pick out an outfit, make sure to stick with one or two colors that coordinate well with each other.
If you wear a bright top, mute out the rest of your outfit with neutral colors. The same goes for a bright colored pant. If you wear a warm colored pant keep that as your focal point and mute out the rest of your outfit.
We are certainly moving into a season of color, and I’m here to tell you not to be afraid. Color says a lot about your personality, so why not show it off in your outfit?
