Board of Trustees Chairman Dr. Larry O. Miller is running for a second term, representing Area 3 on the Ventura County Community College District Board of Trustees.
Last week, Miller said that he is not retiring, but running for a second term this November.
“I haven’t finished my job yet,” said Miller. “When I came to the district I knew I needed to leave it better than when I came.”
Miller has been a part of the college district since 1971, when he was a professor at Moorpark College.
VCCCD Chancellor James Meznek is appointed by the Board of Trustees and works with all the board members.
“I’m pleased that Dr. Miller is going to run again,” said Meznek. “He’s an outstanding educator, and a very accomplished community advocate.”
According to Meznek, Miller is involved daily in Ventura County helping emancipated youth.
“He’s done a really good job as chairman of the board,” said Meznek.
In 2004, Miller was elected to the VCCCD Board of Trustees, representing Area 3, which includes the cities of Camarillo, Santa Paula, Fillmore and Ojai.
“All three colleges have had a huge impact on the county,” said Miller. “I want to get the district to its deserved greatness in this state.”
