The Associated Students of Moorpark College welcomed newly elected President Ryan Krebs.
Krebs, who was also the News editor for the Student Voice newspaper on campus during the Spring 2009, already has high hopes and ambitions for the college.
“My top priorities are to try and remodel the Student Center,” said Krebs. “That will be my main goal.”
Moorpark College currently has a Web site you can visit for news and other information. Krebs insists on giving students news fast, with the goal of implementing an Associated Students Facebook page where students can get up-to-date news on current events around campus.
The new president is delighted to serve the campus community, and hopes he can implement change to promote the general welfare of the students.
“I feel really excited for next year,” said Krebs. “I will do my best to represent (students).”
With a small turnout for student elections, Krebs hopes to bring the campus community together and allow them to be more active participants in campus events.
Another one of his goals is to inform students of the Associated Students office, located inside the Campus Center, which can be used for students to talk with the president and the student board about any ideas, thoughts or concerns they might have.
Joining Krebs on the presidential ticket is Vice President Marissa Martinez, this past year’s Director of Campus Events.
Martinez feels Krebs has a lot to give back to the campus community.
“He seems to be a well-organized and well-prepared person,” Martinez said. “He will be a good president and will do a good job.”
Martinez strongly supports Krebs’ main efforts in trying to get more students to come to the Associated Students office. She too believes the campus community needs to get more involved.
