The Ventura College women’s soccer team made their prominent program that much more prominent by earning its first berth to the State Final Four in the program’s 14-year history.
Despite winning twelve of the last fourteen Western State Conference titles, the Pirates have never been able to make a deep run into the playoffs, previously having four opportunities to advance to the State Final Four, but to no avail.
The Pirates defeated No. 3 seed San Bernardino Valley College 2-1 Saturday night to hand the Wolverines (20-1-4) their first loss of the season, as well as eliminating them from the playoffs in the process.
The Pirates were able to get a taste of bitter-sweet revenge after the Moorpark College Raiders fell to Santiago Canyon 1-0. The WSC rivals tied the Pirates on Nov. 6 to overthrow a dynasty in the making for the WSC crown.
The Pirates (19-3-1) are set to play No. 1 seed Consumnes River in the state semifinal on Friday, Dec. 4 at 10 a.m. at Consumnes River College in Sacramento.
