On Campus Performances Schedule

The Moorpark College Performing Arts Center opens its doors to new shows this spring semester.

The Moorpark College Performing Arts Center will return this spring semester with a brand new schedule of performances.

‘The Pirates of Penzance‘ or “The Slave of Duty’

The theater, music and dance departments join forces to present this award winning musical by Jon English and Simon Gallagher. Professor John Loprieno will direct the play, which will perform on March 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 22, 27, 28, and 29 at 8 p.m. ‘The Pirates of Penzance‘ will also run on March 16, 23 and 30 at 2 p.m.

‘Night Before Nationals’

The Moorpark College Forensics team will make a public appearance on March 25 and 26 at 7:30 p.m. to showcase their work before heading off to their national tournament.

‘MCSO Chamber Music Series II’

The Moorpark College Symphony Orchestra puts on a show of light classics and popular orchestral compositions, directed by James J. Song, and will be performed on April 11 at 8 p.m.

‘Spring Choir Concert’

The Spring Choir concert will be held on April 12 at 8 p.m., giving the Moorpark College choir an opportunity to perform new music selections in front of an audience.

‘Motion Flux’ Student Dance Concert

The Moorpark College dance department presents an evening of dance showcasing the work of students, choreographers, faculty and guest artists featuring ballet, modern, jazz, tap, and hip hop dance styles. It’s directed by Robert Salas and will be performed on April 24, 25, 26 at 8 p.m. and on April 27 at 2 p.m.

‘Spring 2014 Original Student One Acts’

This production of original one-act plays written, produced, and directed by Moorpark College students will feature a wide variety of styles, from comedy to tragedy. Performances will be held on April 30 at 7:30 p.m., as well as on May 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, 10 at 7:30 p.m.

‘All about Jazz’

Featuring the Moorpark College Jazz “A” Band, Studio Jazz Band Combos, and Vocal Jazz Ensemble. These award-winning ensembles will perform a wide variety of jazz on May 3 at 8 p.m.

‘Music for a Sunday afternoon’

Moorpark College student musicians will perform music ranging from the classics to modern masterpieces and even popular Broadway, television and film music directed by Brendan McMullin on May 4 at 2 p.m.

‘Viva L’Opera’

The Moorpark College Symphony Orchestra, Vocal Ensemble, Concert Choir and soloists combine to perform opera’s grandest masterpieces. ‘Viva L’Opera’ will feature well-known overtures, arias and choruses from beloved operas by great masters and is directed by James J. Song. The concert will be held on May 9 and 10 at 8 p.m.

‘Spring 2014 evening of dance’

Moorpark College Dance students take their finals to the stage in a performance of various dance style and levels and is directed by Beth Megill. Performances will take place on May 15 and 16 at 7 p.m.
