The Raiders women’s volleyball beat L.A. Mission College on Oct. 7 in dominating style winning three straight games, 25-8, 25-5 and 25-17.
This is the fourth game in a row where Moorpark College has won in a sweep. The Raiders are showing great rhythm on offense and tenacity on the defensive side of the ball.
Brooke Mataele had 12 kills and 6 digs, as Jessica Soprano added 21 assists to the Raider’s fierce attack.
The Raiders are now 1-0 in the Western State Conference, and look to make a run for the conference title this season.
“Everyone is coming for us and I feel like we are the team to beat,” MC Captain Karissa Flack said. “Its not going to be handed to us and it won’t be easy to win the title, but I am very confident in my team.”
Flack added 10 kills of her own and is determined to lead this Raider team into deep consideration for the state playoffs. She is in top form right now, and has more than just the attention of other players.
“She has a great work ethic, and her will to win is contagious,” said Head Coach Steve Burkhart.
The Raiders host Allen Hancock College on Oct. 12 at 7pm for their second WSC game.
