The Moorpark College Child Development Center, in collaboration with the staff and students of the CDC, are holding a fundraiser entitled “Discovery Day,” where young adult parents can get together with their kids and participate in numerous activities.
The event is for children 18 months through 10 years of age, and children can participate in experimental activities with their families. Gene West, a toy maker, and The Sunshine Band, a local band for entertainment purposes, will hold a silent auction, as well as guest appearances.
All proceeds for the event will go toward the purchase of materials and equipment for the Child Development Center.
Melissa Petry, a student worker for the CDC, believes that this event is an opportunity for parents to spend time with their children, and help out the center in the process.
“It is a time where everyone can get together to participate in child-oriented activities,” Petry said. “It gives parents an opportunity to spend time with their kids.”
The event is going to be on Saturday, March 21st, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Pre-tickets sales are available at the Child Development Center, with a price of $5.00 per child and $3.00 per adult. Tickets will also be sold at the door, costing $6.00 per child or $4.00 per adult.
