Students in need of credits who are looking to transfer or graduate can check out the course catalog for 10 new general education late start classes for this spring semester at Moorpark College.
Executive Vice President Jane Harmon said the reason to add more classes revolved around the budget.
“The District needed more FTS (full-time students), or head count of students,” said Harmon. “The enrollment must match the money we have.”
Harmon said that the school looked at the general education courses and chose the classes that served as many students as possible.
“We are thrilled,” said Harmon. “I am very hopeful that we are going to be able to offer more sections to students in the future.”
These courses were designed to help students transfer or graduate faster.
The goal was to gain 50 more full-time students, meaning those who are taking 12 units or more.
The sections offered include fundamental courses in Music, Anthropology, English, History and more. From Jan. 29, classes started filling quickly.
These courses were designed to help students transfer or graduate faster.
Moorpark College Freshman, Eric Gamboa, 19, Criminal Justice major said that while these additions did not affect him, he, along with others can see the need for them.
“First years have a hard time finding classes, so I think it’s a good idea,” said Gamboa.
Students should look now as classes are filling up quickly.
