Less than ten minutes into “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” I realized I would have to be very patient to actually sit through this thing. First off, it’s a musical and I hate musicals. They make no sense. Secondly, the movie was filled with “what the hell” moments. And not the good “what the hell” moments where things are kind of cool or funny but you’re not sure why. But the real “what the hell” moments that just leave you confused and sometimes annoyed.
The acting was totally unconvincing which is surprising considering the cast includes big names like Susan Sarandon and Tim Curry.
The plot was ridiculous and stupid if anything but non-existent. It’s something about a newly engaged couple stumbling upon a castle where a transvestite scientist is creating his own little sex toy. Then everybody turns out to be aliens from the planet Transsexual of the Transylvania galaxy.
“The Rocky Horror Picture Show” is one of those overrated cult films. The movie has no substance and is just a collection of weirdness that makes no sense. It tries too hard to be rebellious that it comes off as a bit pretentious. I get it. You’re making a weird movie. You’re so different and special. Good for you.
In fact, the most entertaining part of the movie were the subtitles for the various sound effects.
