On Tuesday Jan. 28 and Wednesday Jan. 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Raider Walk will host spring semester’s Club Days.
Held an hour longer than last semester’s, Club Days will appeal not only to those arriving to school around 10 a.m. or later, but also to those students who take a lot of morning classes that get out in the afternoon. This gives organization’s more time to increase the number of interested students that have the potential of joining their club.
When it comes to Moorpark College’s Associated Student’s, their expectations for Club Days doesn’t fall short, expressing that there will be success like the Fall semester, although there might not be as many “new” students signing up as a lot of returning students, it should still be great.
“If students missed it last semester or didn’t know what it was about, they now have a second chance to be apart of student organizations and that’s our mission for Associated Students this year. We really want freshmen to get involved and feel welcome on campus,” said Erin Nosco, Vice President of Associated Students.
With newcomer clubs such as NAMI (National Alliance of Mental Illness), and Emergency Response Organization joining the family of several other great organizations, it will be difficult to turn away from one of the big events this semester.
“We want as many students to participate and get involved as possible. A lot of students don’t know they can join clubs! Hopefully they’ll see how excited everyone else is and join in on the fun,” said Nosco.
On the more global outlook, the International Students club attracted over 70 students last semester, so new international students are bound to be interested this coming week and join in on the fun.
“Since we have had several new organizations start up this semester, I’m thinking that those are the ones to have the “biggest impact” in terms of interested students, simply because none of the students have heard about them before,” said Victoria Zolfaghari, Director of Student Organizations.
Another two clubs expected to draw in students are the Honors club and the FLEX club, which is always a big interest to students who want to get involved. The Christian Club is also thought to unite a lot of students.
With all 30 of Moorpark College’s organizations expected to be participating this semester all that’s left are the students to join in.
