The Moorpark College Honors club, is not only a non-profit organization that helps out in the community, it’s a collection of students who share some of the same interests and goals.
The Moorpark College Honors Club is 1 of over 20 clubs on campus. The club focuses on things that aid in applying for college, such as the attending UCLA TAP transfer day on Nov 13.
“Everyone is welcome,” said Cynthia Barnett, the Honors Club advisor. “It’s fun stuff and community service.”
The Honors club which is separate from the honors program gives all students a chance to attend educational events such as, the HTCC conference at UCI. These events are offered as extra credit to some students in the honors classes.
Recently honors club members helped build a house in Oxnard with the Habitat for Humanity Organization. They will also host an eye glasses drive in the near future.
The club meets the first Friday of every month in building HSS room 202.
Students do not have to be in the honors program to be in the honors club.”Most people think you have to be in the honors program to be in the club, all you have to do is show up and get involved, it’s a bunch of fun,” said Alex Moritz 18, an English major and Vice President of the Honors club. “It’s a lot of fun even if you’re not in the program.”
