Sound the bagpipes; Multicultural Day is back! The 24th annual Multicultural Day at Moorpark College is taking place on Tuesday, April 15. This year’s event explores the theme of “Technology Changing Culture: Blessing or Curse?”

Commencement of the event includes a community parade led by Scottish bagpipes marching down Raider Walk, to mark the Opening Ceremony at 9:40 a.m. Shortly after, Professor Steven Pfeffer will introduce the Moorpark College President, Dr. Bernard Luskin, and the Multicultural Day Committee Chair, Professor Ranford Hopkins.

Throughout the event, students and faculty have the opportunity to attend a variety of presentations, hands-on activities, panel discussions and rhythmic performances.

Attendees can expect stimulating lectures touching on the correlation of technology and culture including “Your Smartphone is trying to Kill You,” by Dr. Laura Forsyth and “The Blessings of Multicultural Marriage & Parenthood,” by Professor Brendan Purdy and his wife Thuy Purdy. Activities such as Zumba with Komal Tejwani and Cuban Salsa Dancing with Jonathan Kraut will be engaging to audiences .

Informational merchant booths from local and international organizations will accompany the exhibits during the event. Food options will be available in the quad with a myriad of trucks offering tacos, tamales, kettle corn, gelato, and more.
