Starting Multicultural Day with a morning workout really gets the endorphins pumping.

Dance instructor Komal Tejwani led one of Multicultural Day’s first events while dressed in full Indian regalia. All levels of student were welcome to an elementary exposure to Zumba Dance workouts.

She took a group of about thirty brave souls through a routine to Pitbull’s “I Know You Want Me,” that was energizing and enjoyable.

Almost all attendees participated in learning the routine step-by-step. Tejwani would teach a dance step and then start from the top of the choreography to encourage ample practice.

By the end of instruction, participates were adding their own flare while working up a sweat.

The last fifteen minutes were devoted to a Reggae dance off between teams. There was no winner, but it was all in good fun.

Tejwani is classically trained in Bharata Natyam, or Indian classical dance. She created her own Bhangra dance team in Santa Clarita called SCV Power Bhangra.
