Students planning on transferring to Universities will be able to engage with representatives from 60+ Universities at the Annual Moorpark College Transfer Day, on Sept. 3 on Raider Walk from 10 a.m to 1 p.m..

There will be some changes to this years’ Transfer Day mostly for the better. Judi Gould of the Career and Transfer Center coordinates Transfer day, looks to improve it year after year.

“Around 5,000 students show up to Transfer Day,” said Gould.

For starters, there will be two university workshops on campus. The only time that USC and Cal Poly will be holding the workshops will be during Transfer Day. Space is limited so it is recommended to contact the Career and Transfer Center to make a reservation.

“There will be a USC workshop from 1:30 p.m. till 2:30 p.m.,” said Gould. “Cal Poly will also have one [workshop] from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.”

The Writing Center will be also aiding students on Transfer Day. This brand new feature, located in the library will be helping and giving advice on Student’s own entry essays and personal statements upon transferring.

“Drop in” counseling will also be available this year on Raider Walk. In past years there has been only one counselor available at the booth. But this year, there will be multiple counselors ready to help students. According to Gould, “it will be like express counseling but at the booth.”

Unfortunately, in this year’s Transfer Day there will be an absence of a night session.

A lot of work gets done to make Transfer Day happen. Along with coordinator Judi Gould and the Transfer Center, several clubs and groups volunteer to make Transfer Day as helpful as possible.

The Association of Students Club, the Business Students Club, the Honors Club, and even Moorpark College’s High School students are volunteering for this event.
