In a tough match against Santiago Canyon College, Moorpark Raiders men’s soccer team battles it out for a tie, on Friday.
The first half of the game, both teams had many opportunities to score. The defense,and goal keepers on both teams came out with big goal stopping plays. Leaving both teams with a scoreless first half.
“We came together as a group,” said defender and Team Captain, Joel Estrada. “We came out strong and fought hard.”
At the start of the second half the Raider’s were dominating the game. Two minutes into the first half, Moorpark got a corner kick that resulted in a goal from defender Joseph Baker.
“I was just in the right place at the right time,” said Baker. “It was good teamwork.”
With a counter attack six minutes into the game Santiago got a goal to tie the game. After Santiago scored the game got very physical and three players from Moorpark were given yellow cards. A red card was given to a player from Santiago, and he was ejected from the match.
“I feel good after this game,” said defender Osmar Marroqun . “I am very confident about this team.”
Moorpark Men’s Soccer will head down to Cypress to face Cypress college at 3 p.m. Friday Sep. 5, 2014.
