Moorpark College still has some classes open for students

The fall semester is officially underway here at Moorpark College. Students know what classes they have to take in order to transfer. However, there are still classes that are still open for students to enroll in.

“With the classes that are still open, I want to grow the schedules for the classes that are available,”said, Pres. Bernard Luskin.

There are 62 classes still available for students to register. The classes are late start classes to be taken at later in the semester.

Some of the courses listed on the Moorpark College website are only scheduled for nine weeks or less. However they are also listed as services such as volunteering in Fountain Hall and tutoring in the math center in the library.

Examples of the classes that are still open are, Anthropology, Art Classes, Astronomy, Journalism, Biology, and Business.

The classes that are still available, have low enrollemnt. The classes are just taking adds and drops for students to fill in the remaining spaces, according to Luskin.

If the students want the classes, then it shouldn’t be a problem for them.

“The deans here at Moorpark College have done a really good job and the students are very pleased with the situation regarding the open and late start classes,” said Luskin.

One advantage of having the classes that aren’t full yet is that students can also take the online classes if the classes with lectures are full.

The disadvantages of the open and late start classes, is that if the classes aren’t full, then they will be removed and students who are enrolled will be dropped from the course.

Those who feel rushed, there is still time to sign up until early October.

“It’s not a race, it’s like building a house. You start out with a brick find the right tools and you will be golden,” said Luskin.

He is encouraging students to take the later classes and enroll in them as soon as possible and is willing to help students when it is their time to transfer to a four year school like, a UC, Cal State, Private or out of state school.
