Like most college students, Moorpark College students desperately need options for food throughout the day. A shopping center across from campus is equipped with alternate food options to make up for the lack of access of a full cafeteria.

With the two sister restaurants, Custom Melt and Custom Pie, Moorpark College has promising alternatives while the school deliberates and plans for a new cafeteria. These restaurants offer variations of simple foods: grilled cheese and pizza.

These two restaurants are perfect for grabbing a bite for lunch between classes throughout the week. The Custom restaurants have built a great relationship with Moorpark College and welcome students to try their dishes for themselves. To further show their appreciation to their loyal student customers, the Custom sister restaurants offer a free fountain drink with any student purchase.

Custom Melt has a trendy environment. The walls are adorned with modern paintings and newspaper clippings of reviews framed on the walls. The initial smell when walking into the restaurant is incredible, which could make anyone drool instantly. The quality of the food matches the enticing aroma.

Custom Melt invites their customers to try their Mini-Melt Special. They offer one of four of their famous sandwiches: The Happy Pig, The Mack, Crispy Chicken (Italian or Buffalo), or Ham and Cheese. This special comes with four sandwiches in mini form, a drink, and are paired with a choice of soup, salad, or fries. This amazing special is only $8, a delicious deal for students on a budget.

The pizza version of Custom Melt, Custom Pie, is not as chic as its sister, but it is still an excellent restaurant. This is the place to satisfy cravings of quality food in a simplistic atmosphere. Custom Pie redeems itself with delicious pizza to make up for the lack of a trendy interior.

Custom Pie also offers an amazing special for lunch from Monday to Friday until 2:30 p.m. The special is $11 for one small nine-inch pizza paired with a mixed greens or caesar salad. This also includes a complimentary fountain drink.

Students can enjoy the relaxing environments and exquisite food of both Custom Pie and Custom Melt without burning holes in their wallets. While a campus cafeteria is still highly anticipated, these sister restaurants will continue to provide alternatives for students with big appetites.
