Students in the concert choir and vocal ensemble have already started preparing for the Choral concert that will take place on Nov. 2 in the Performing Arts Center.

“The theme of this concert is going to be all centered around love and topics of love,” said Director of Choral Activities Brandon Elliott.

Elliott will be directing the Choral concert and making sure all will go as planned. This is his first year teaching at Moorpark College, and students are eager to see what Elliott will bring to the show.

Elliott said the show will feature pieces from all different languages including Spanish, German, and Italian.

“We’re going to be doing a piece from the renaissance, from the Baroque era, from the romantic era, and then current day music,” said Elliott.

The concert will feature the vocal ensemble, which is an auditioned group, performing with the non-auditioned concert choir. There are a lot of fresh faces that will make this performance unique and exciting.

Audience members can expect an entirely new show than what they might have seen in the past.

“It’s almost an entirely new choir,” said Lauren Tougas, a music major at Moorpark College and fourth year vocal ensemble member. “I think [the audience] will be impressed with how these pieces sound.”

The music performed will be extremely diverse and will provide a wholesome challenge for students. In preparation, students spend about 10 to 12 hours a week practicing to ensure a wonderful performance. The show will go on for just enough time to leave the audience wanting more.

“The concert will run for about an hour with a small intermission,” said Zitlaly Nez, a sophomore at Moorpark College.

Nez has been participating in choir since she was in fourth grade. As a veteran singer, this is her second semester in the concert choir, and audiences can expect to see her on stage singing her heart out.

The Fall Choral Concert will be held in the Performing Arts Center on Nov. 2 at 4 p.m. and is a show students will not want to miss. For information on purchasing tickets visit: http://www.moorparkcollege.edu/departments/academic/theatre-arts/performing-arts-center
