The Moorpark College Raiders football team will feature two talented quarterbacks this season. Both second-year students, Nick Davis, 19 and Zach LaBar, 20 lead the Raiders to battle every Saturday.

Davis and LaBar are both pursing degrees in Communications, respectively.

Davis comes to Moorpark from Pacifica High School in Oxnard, California and Zach LaBar comes to the Raiders from Del Oro High School; 20 minutes outside of Sacramento.

Davis has been playing football since he was six years old, and LaBar has been playing since he was 12. They both played baseball growing up as well but they chose to pursue football instead.

“Football is just one of those things I love so much,” LaBar explained as he described why he chose football over other sports.

Both Davis and LaBar described that they love the competitive nature of football. The fact that they are doing something they love, and are having fun at the same time makes it all worthwhile.

“It’s fantastic to have two [quarterbacks] that can perform at the level they can,” said Athletic director Howard Davis. “Both can help out in any situation and can use their own skills to help the team win.”

Davis added he enjoys “the grind” when it comes to football and having to constantly work to get better and improve.

They both agreed that after football is over for them they still want to be involved with football at some point.

“We’re both competitive…and do the best we can,” LaBar said about him and Davis’s relationship on the field. Off the field, “I’d consider Nick to be a good friend. Us playing the same position hasn’t forced us in to being enemies.”

Davis stated that execution is one of the most important lessons he has learned from football.

“Our biggest thing right now is we have everything in place we just need to execute and follow through,” Davis explained.

If you want to get the chance to see both Nick Davis and Zach LaBar in action come out and watch a football game.
