Moorpark College dance students are pouring their hearts and souls into the “Speaking Movement” Dance concert. The Performing Arts Center on campus will host four performances in late November.

The audience can expect “Speaking Movement” to take them on a journey, sharing stories through the art of dance.

Artistic Director Nancy Paradis has several visions for the show.

“[I want to] honor dance and [its] origin and share that with the audience,” said Paradis. “I also want to share facts about the dance world, and look at what the message of the story that’s being told.”

The show will cover different types of dance genres from Contemporary and Ballet to Jazz and Hip-Hop. The dances will be choreographed by different faculty, students, and a guest choreographer, according to Paradis.

“It will be an eclectic concert, something for everyone,” said Paradis. “It is surreal to see my ideas and morph into what will be a wonderfully balanced and entertaining concert.”

Paradis and the dance students, along with Robert Salas, Assistant Chair of Music and Dance, will be preparing for a beautiful and captivating show.

The performances will take place at 8 p.m. on Nov. 20, 21, 22 and at 2 p.m. on Nov. 23. Prices for the “Speaking Movement” Dance concert range from $8-$12. For additional information regarding the upcoming shows please visit www.moorparkcollege.edu/PAC.
