Cody Tuttle looks to help the Raiders improve their record
October 23, 2014
The Moorpark Raiders football team features many different playmakers on offense, but the one player that stands out is tight end Cody Tuttle.
So far into the 2014 season, Tuttle leads the team with 31 receptions good for 433 yards and four touchdowns through four games played.
Tuttle even has some tricks up his sleeve by throwing for a 41-yard pass against Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga.
Tuttle started his football career at 4 years old, by playing flag football.
He grew up in Indiana and moved to California when he was 12 years old.
He played high school football at Westlake High School. At Westlake Tuttle combined for over 1022 yards and seven touchdowns. He earned all Marmonte League honors. His performance in high school allowed him to transfer to the University of Nevada on a football scholarship.
“I eventually came back home,” said Tuttle. “Then I started going to Moorpark in December of 2013.”
Tuttle said that he choose Moorpark after meeting with several junior colleges in the area.
Tuttle liked the way the Moorpark campus looked, saying it was “one of the nicest ones I’d seen.”
“I spoke with Coach (Will) Thurston and Cody Marty, the offensive coordinator,” Tuttle said. “I felt that I had the best opportunity to excel here at Moorpark.”
Tuttle loves football and has been playing all his life and he wants to keep playing until his body physically won’t let him anymore.
He is dedicated to the game and to helping Moorpark win.
After his time at Moorpark is finished, Tuttle hopes to transfer back to a Division 1 football school to play and eventually wants to try to join the NFL after that.
Yet there is more than playing football that describes Tuttle as he wants to pursue a career after football that suits his interests.
“After I’m done playing football I want to still be involved with sports,” Tuttle said. “I want to get involved with sports broadcasting and become a sports commentator for sporting games or become a host for ESPN.”
His best game of the season came in the team’s 39-31 win over Orange Coast where Tuttle finished the game with 14 catches, 195 yards and a touchdown.
Despite the team’s 1-5 record so far, Tuttle hopes to continue to play well and help lead his team to victory.
