Following the “All About Jazz” show on Dec 13, the Moorpark College Wind Ensemble will take the stage for their “Music for a Sunday Afternoon” performance at 2 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center on Dec 14.
The talented student musicians will perform music ranging from modern masterpieces to classics, perfect for the Sunday afternoon. Moorpark College dance faculty and choreographer Nancy Paradis and her dance students will collaborate with the music faculty to pay tribute to her late father and bring his music to life.
Paradis’ late father, Gunnery Sergeant (GySgt) Richard Ferraro, Marine Corps, left his talent behind on tapes with his unique music from the 1950s. Through this opportunity, she will be able to honor her father and the entire military for their services with the performance of his music played by the Music Ensemble while the dance students share the stage with them.
Listeners can expect to hear numbers from popular films and Broadway and television shows, which will be directed by music faculty Brendan McMullin.
“I’ve only been to an orchestra performance on campus,” said Roxanna Rodriguez, 21, Criminal Justice major, who looks forward to the upcoming show. “I’m not sure what to expect, but I’m excited for what I’m going to hear during the performance.”
