The Moorpark Lady Raiders routed the Pierce College Brahmas by 33 points Wednesday night, with a final score of 87-54.
The Moorpark Lady Raiders came to Winnetka Avenue with a lot of confidence, after beating the Brahmas by 41 points their previous meeting. Just like their last meeting, the Lady Raiders started on fire, and within the first five minutes, were up 10-0.
“We were able to get stops defensively, and that turned into points,” said coach Remy McCarthy.
The Lady Raiders never gave up the lead during the game, and went into halftime up by close to 20 points. The only worry the locker room had after half, was how to maintain this pace, and tenacity.
The message at halftime “was to come out acting like it was a 0-0 game,” said Sydney Bennett.
This attitude kept the Ladies focused and determined to beat the Jim Couch coached team.
“Good teams don’t play the scoreboard,” said McCarthy. “Good teams play possessions, and we’d like to think we’re a good team.”
The Lady Raiders are currently 6-2 in WSC play. They look to continue their play as they host the Santa Barbara Vaqueros on Feb. 7. at 5 p.m.
