The game was called at the end of the fifth inning after the Moorpark College Lady Raiders mercyed the Chaffey College Panthers.
The Lady Raiders used the long ball to account for four of their runs, and had a seven run fourth inning to seal the deal.
“You can tell their was great energy even during the pregame warmup,” said coach Dave Fox. “The girls used this to start the game off.”
The Lady Raiders came to Campus Road, for their first home game of the season after losing the previous three games. The home crowd and comfortable surrounding was definitely something the Lady Raiders benefited from.
Melissa Boundy was on the hill Friday to start and finish the game. She gave up one earned run on the day and was scoreless through her first three. She also contributed on the offensive side of things by crushing a two run bomb in the first inning.
“Melissa was feeling healthy, and we feel confident whenever she is pitching for us,” said Fox.
The game was not all perfect for the Lady Raiders. They were caught in a jam in the fourth with runners at the corners. Melissa came in and pitched great to get them out of the inning.
“She got us out of that inning by hitting her spots, and staying confident,” said Marianna Kedzia, freshman shortstop.
The Lady Raiders entered the bottom of the fourth with a 2-1 lead and scored seven runs against the Panthers. The Lady Raiders went through their entire lineup that inning and cruised to victory.
“There is always room for improvement,” said Montana Harrington, freshman third baseman. “But overall we played great as a unit today, and were able to come away with a win.”
The Lady Raiders are currently 1-3 overall with zero conference games played. They look to build off their win when they host Antelope Valley College on Feb. 10 at 2:30 p.m.
